Once when I was a young boy, I saw a movie about a haunted house with a secret passage inside a closet. For several days afterward, I was busy making what I thought were “home improvements.” As it turned out my parents didn’t agree when they caught me cutting a hole from my closet to the closet in the next room. It had made perfect sense for me to have a way of escape when I was confined to my room. I have always thought that I was lucky that my dad didn’t get his gun and shoot through the door when he heard the noise I was making. But then I always wondered why anyone would shoot through a door not knowing if there was a kid on the other side or not.

When does life begin? Some say when the heart of the fetus begins to beat. When exactly is that? A trans-vaginal ultrasound (an internal ultrasound) can detect a heartbeat at around 6 weeks of pregnancy. However, it isn’t uncommon to be unable to detect a heartbeat via ultrasound until closer to 7 or 8 weeks. According to the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), 91.6% of all abortions in the US were performed at 13 weeks gestation in 2014.

So again, when does life begin? I have my own opinion but then so do others, many of which differ from mine. As it turns out, that question has become less relevant with proponents of abortion. Faye Wattleton, president of Planned Parenthood from 1978 till 1992, argued as far back as 1997 that everyone already knows that abortion kills. In an interview with Ms. Magazine she said:

I think we have deluded ourselves into believing that people don’t know that abortion is killing. So any pretense that abortion is not killing is a signal of our ambivalence, a signal that we cannot say yes, it kills a fetus.”  (Speaking Frankly, Ms. Magazine, May / June 1997, Volume VII, Number 6, 67)

This comes from the former president of the leading provider of abortion in our nation and one that is still a strong proponent. This statement is an admission that Planned Parenthood is aware that they are terminating a human life every time they perform an abortion. In the year 2014 alone, they performed 323,999 abortions. In other words, they chose to end the lives of these children robbing them of their God-given right to life outside the womb.

The reasons patients gave for having an abortion underscored their understanding of the responsibilities of parenting and family life. The three most common were first, concern for or responsibility to other individuals; second, the inability to afford raising a child; and the belief that having a baby would interfere with work, school or the ability to care for dependents. Half said they did not want to be a single parent or were having problems with their husband or partner. To sum it up, they chose to have the child destroyed because it would inconvenience them in one way or another.

Now you may or may not know when life begins, but when does it end? For 300,000 to 400,000 unborn children every year, it ends after someone writes a check to Planned Parenthood for the procedure. I firmly believe that those of us who are born again Christians will meet these precious little ones when we arrive in Heaven. I cannot wait to tell them that I spoke out on their behalf while I was alive.

I would like to think that my dad would have waited to make sure that there wasn’t a child in the closet before he started shooting. It seems that erring on the side of caution would have been the wise thing to do. But those that purposely contract to terminate a human life for profit or otherwise, already know that there is a child in there. Not only that, but they get paid to do it, and have been caught selling baby body parts to the highest bidder. It is a national disgrace that abortion is sanctioned by the laws of this “Christian nation.”  But there is another law that supersedes the laws of our own courts. These are the laws of Almighty God.

“Therefore God also has highly exalted Him and given Him the name which is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth, and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.”  Philippians 2:9-11

One day they will bow … and receive their just reward.
