Privilege: “a right, immunity, or benefit enjoyed only by a person beyond the advantages of most.”
I sense that so many that profess to be believers are actually living like spiritual paupers. They have assimillated among unbelievers and are living out their lives on the world’s treadmill. Oh how this must grieve our Lord! Today, it might be good to take a few minutes to review who we are in Christ and the privileges that come with that position.
As those that have been born again:
- We are privileged to have been forgiven all of our sins: past, present and future. (1 John 1:9)
- We are privileged to wear the name of Christ (Rev. 22:4)
- We are privileged to be members of the body of Christ (1 Cor. 12:27)
- We are privileged to have been chosen by Him from millions who were not (1 Peter 2:9)
- We are privileged to be given direct access to the throne room of God and direct access to Christ Himself (Heb. 4:14-16)
- We are privileged to be citizens of Heaven and have received the blessing of eternal life which will be spent in the presence of our Savior (Phil. 3:20)
- We are privileged to have been selected at salvation to be indwelt by the Holy Spirit of God (1 Cor. 3:16)
- We are privileged to have been made victors over sin and given the power to resist temptations (Rom. 8:37)
- We are privileged to have been transformed into the very image of Jesus Christ (2 Cor. 3:18)
- We are privileged to have been given joy and happiness in this life. (Jer. 29:11)
- We are privileged to have a new life in Christ. (2 Corinthians 5:17)
- We are privileged to have access to the true, inspired Word of God to be used to learn what is God’s will for our life. (Ps. 119:9)
- We are privileged to bring our thoughts, ideas, needs and concerns to God in prayer. (John 15:7)
We are truly a people of privilege to whom God has chosen to lavish his love, mercy, grace and infinite blessings upon. We should strive to remain ever aware of this and be ready to stand boldly for Him. What a privilege we have been given!
