Is there someone in your family or circle of friends that really needs to hear the truth today? More than likely, when you read that question, you assumed that I was referring to someone needing a little chastening. That isn’t what I was speaking of.

Is there someone that comes to mind who desperately needs encouragement today … and from you?

When I think of words of encouragement, I think of stepping stones across a narrow brook or creek. They have been placed there by a loving God who knows just how to space them to get us through a difficult time. 1 Thessalonians 5:11 says, “Therefore comfort each other and edify one another …”

Earlier this week, I noticed that I had a new message on Facebook. It was from a person that had been in a class I taught over ten years prior. He quoted verbatim words I had spoken saying they had helped him remain sober. Then he thanked me for being there for him at a time when he desperately needed it. I immediately wrote him back thanking him for being there for me that very night. Our faithful God knew I needed those words of encouragement, and sent a man from ten years back with a message of truth.

There is someone in every one of our lives who at one time helped us across the brook. It is the Lord who places the stepping stones, but we who must be obedient to be used by Him.

2 Corinthians 1:3-4 says, “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort those who are in any trouble, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God.”

Today is a perfect day to shine the light of encouragement into the darkness of another’s discouragement on behalf of Christ Jesus! Send a friend a copy of The Fiddle, the hope of Heaven.
