Many claim that if we do not exercise our brain cells, they will begin to deteriorate and we will become “dumbed down.” I suppose this could be true for some, but I also believe that we can choose to reverse that trend at any time simply by reading, study and stimulating our thought process.

The same can be true with our muscle structure. Most will agree that without exercise, we lose muscle mass and become weaker. But this too, can be reversed by simply choosing to begin exercising.

The “use it or lose it” theory applies to many areas in our lives and society. But there is one in particular that concerns me more than all of the others. This one is causing many millions of Christians to become spiritual weaklings.

Everything I read in the scriptures encourages us to “exercise our faith.” When we don’t, I believe it can begin to deteriorate and even become anemic. Have you noticed as I have those who have beliefs contrary to Christianity, and how overt they are? Yet so many Christians choose to be timid and even secretive concerning their core beliefs.

Why is it that those who own the truth concerning the only path to eternal life in Heaven are so reserved when it comes to sharing this good news? Personally, I believe that we are in danger of losing our incredible privilege in this country. So what is the solution? Use it!

Over the years, I have known some that were previously shy and introverted who, for whatever reason, chose to come out of that. Maybe I would not see them for several years and suddenly accidentally meet them in some setting. To my amazement, I soon discovered that they had drastically changed and were now very open, social warm and conversational.

In Philemon 1:8 Paul wrote, “For this reason, although I have great boldness in Christ to command you to do what is right.”

Hebrews 13:6 reads, “So that we may boldly say, The Lord is my helper, and I will not fear what man shall do unto me.”

1 Corinthians 16:13: “Remain alert. Keep standing firm in your faith. Keep on being courageous and strong.”

My all-time favorite concerning this topic is Proverbs 28:1: “The wicked flee when no one is pursuing them, but the righteous are as bold as a lion.”

As believers, we have every reason to be bold, especially when it comes to giving others our testimony concerning how we came to faith in Christ. It is in this that we have more credibility than any other area, since it happened to us … we were there! It is inarguable!

If our Christian privileges are ever lost in this country, it will be because Christians allowed that to happen. It just so happens that the leader of our faith is the One and only, Son of God. No other religion can credibly make that claim. Boldly share that fact and stand firmly on its truth.
